Horses have been a part of The Ohio State University since 1902. Ohio State registered its first AQHA foal in 1960, a filly named Peppy Jo Rio by Peppy’s Wimpy. To date, the university’s equine program has produced more than 400 foals. Many of Ohio State’s homebreds have earned AQHA points in performance and halter in addition to performance Registers of Merit and Superiors. They also include NCHA and NRHA money-earners, and have been successful producers of performers as well.
